Available options can include programmable and WiFi-enabled thermostats, with features varying by model. Floor sensors are commonly integrated with compatible controls to monitor temperature within the floor assembly.

Neither format should be selected solely by room square footage without accounting for areas where heating elements cannot or should not be installed.
Uncoupling Membranes for Radiant Floor Heating
Some electric floor heating systems use specially designed membranes that provide channels or attachment points for compatible heating cables while also performing an uncoupling function beneath tile. These systems can simplify cable positioning and integrate floor heating with the tile underlayment assembly.
Not every uncoupling membrane is designed to accept heating cable, and not every heating cable is compatible with every membrane. Use heating components and membranes in combinations approved by the respective system manufacturers.
Radiant Heating for Bathrooms, Kitchens & Showers
Electric floor heating can be installed in compatible bathrooms, kitchens, entryways, basements, and other interior floor areas where heated surfaces are desired. Certain systems can also be approved for specific shower or wet-area applications, but those installations require particular attention to electrical requirements, waterproofing, component placement, and system compatibility.
A radiant heating product should not be assumed suitable for a shower simply because it is approved for bathroom floors. Verify that the specific heating system and installation method are approved for the intended wet-area application.
