Product Information
The Nuheat® Mat Lead Wire Repair Kit provides the components needed to replace a damaged lead wire on a compatible Nuheat heating mat. Separate 120 V and 240 V kits are available to match the voltage of the heating system.
Each repair kit includes one 10 ft. replacement lead, three large heat shrinks, and three small heat shrinks. The small heat shrinks are used to connect the heating wire to the larger cold lead wire, while the large heat shrinks complete the connection over the metallic braid.
The heating mat must be tested before, during, and after installation to validate the warranty. After completing the lead repair, insulation and resistance tests are required to verify the connections. Resistance should measure within -5% to +10% of the factory reading listed on the mat tag.
Installation requires removing the damaged portion of the lead, preparing the existing and replacement wires, and joining them with the supplied solder-ring heat shrinks using a heat gun. After the individual lead connections are completed, the metallic braid is reconnected and sealed with the larger heat shrink. The heating mat must not be connected to power during testing.
Common Questions
Each kit includes one 10 ft. replacement lead, three large heat shrinks, and three small heat shrinks.
The small heat shrinks connect the heating wires to the larger replacement cold lead wires. The large heat shrink is used when reconnecting the metallic braid over the repaired wire connections.
Yes. Insulation and resistance tests must be performed after completing the repair. Nuheat also requires testing before, during, and after installation to validate the warranty.
The resistance reading should be within -5% to +10% of the factory resistance listed on the heating mat tag.
No. Do not connect the heating mat to power during insulation or resistance testing.
AC0016 is the 120 V Mat Lead Wire Repair Kit, while AC0017 is the 240 V version.
