About This Product

Contour Blades for Granite Sinkholes

Alpha® Contour Diamond Blades are developed for cutting sinkholes and other curved openings in granite and engineered stone. They also perform on quartzite, providing the maneuverability needed to shape curved cuts in hard materials.

Segmented Blades for Curved Cuts

Direct-sintered diamond segments cover both sides of each steel core and the peripheral cutting edge. The side segments create a wider 4.0 mm kerf that supports clean, accurate curve cutting, while interior segments help prevent undercutting.

Curved Cutting Blades with Greater Maneuverability

The wider kerf makes these curved cutting blades easier to guide through shaped openings than standard diamond blades. This increased maneuverability reduces the need for difficult and time-consuming plunge cuts during sinkhole fabrication.

Wet or Dry Cutting Compatibility

The blades can be used wet or dry and are available in 4", 4-1/2", 5", and 6" diameters with 7/8" arbors. They fit compatible wet/dry stone cutters and angle grinders, while the 6" version can also be used with suitable CNC routers equipped with cutting heads.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can Alpha Contour Diamond Blades cut?

The blades are designed for granite and engineered stone and are also identified for cutting quartzite. Separate Alpha Contour Blades are available for marble and porcelain applications.

Are these the Alpha Contour Blades for porcelain?

No. These variants are intended for granite, engineered stone, and quartzite. Alpha offers separate Contour Blades designed for porcelain and sintered slabs.

What are Alpha Contour Diamond Blades primarily used for?

They are developed for cutting granite sinkholes and other curved openings that require greater blade maneuverability.

How do the segmented blades help prevent undercutting?

Diamond segments on the inside of the steel cores help prevent undercutting during curved cutting applications.

Can Alpha Contour Diamond Blades be used wet or dry?

Yes. The blades support both wet and dry cutting with compatible equipment. Alpha recommends wet cutting when practical to control airborne dust and support blade life.

Why do the Contour Blades have a wider kerf?

The wider 4.0 mm kerf improves maneuverability through curved areas and helps the blades follow tighter radiuses with less reliance on plunge cuts.

What equipment is compatible with the Contour Diamond Blades?

The blades fit compatible wet/dry stone cutters and angle grinders. The 6" version can also be used with suitable CNC routers equipped with cutting heads.

What Contour Blade sizes are available?

The blades are available in 4", 4-1/2", 5", and 6" diameters with 7/8" arbors. The 4" and 4-1/2" sizes cut up to 3/4", the 5" cuts up to 1-1/4", and the 6" cuts up to 1-5/8" deep.
