Product Information
Alpha® Profiler Z-Series Vertical Grinding Wheels are designed for aggressive vertical grinding and shaping of granite, engineered quartz, concrete, and porcelain. Also known as zero tolerance or drum grinding wheels, they create and refine straight 90-degree edges after cutting sink openings and other fabricated shapes.
The Profiler Z-Series is designed to maintain its original wheel shape during use, supporting consistent vertical edges over extended grinding work. A nylon guide and rotary toucher help maintain uniformity as the wheel follows the workpiece, while the straight profile provides controlled material removal along vertical surfaces.
Each Profiler Z-Series wheel uses a 5/8"-11 female thread and incorporates internal water passage holes for wet grinding. The wheels fit popular water-fed polishers and are available in 1-1/4", 1-1/2", and 2" sizes for working with different material thicknesses.
The Z-Series can be used after cutting sink openings with an Alpha Contour blade and AWS-125 Stone Cutter to shape the cut edge to the desired vertical profile. Alpha also recommends using the grinding wheel with a Corner Ruler when forming uniform exterior corners.

Common Questions
The Profiler Z-Series is designed for vertical or zero tolerance grinding to shape and refine straight 90-degree edges during stone, quartz, concrete, and porcelain fabrication.
The wheels are recommended for granite, quartz and engineered stone, concrete, and porcelain.
The Profiler Z-Series is available in 1-1/4" (3cm), 1-1/2" (4cm), and 2" (5cm) sizes.
The 1-1/4" PFZ301 and 1-1/2" PFZ401 have a maximum speed of 3,500 RPM. The 2" PFZ501 has a maximum speed of 6,000 RPM.
Yes. Each wheel has a 5/8"-11 female thread and internal water passage holes and is designed to fit popular water-fed polishers.
The wheel is designed to retain its original shape during grinding, while the nylon guide and rotary toucher help maintain uniformity along the workpiece.
Yes. Alpha recommends the Z-Series for shaping vertical edges after a sink opening has been cut, including openings cut using an Alpha Contour blade with the AWS-125 Stone Cutter.
