Product Information
Alpha® Profiler Z-Series Vertical Diamond Grinding Wheels provide aggressive wet grinding for shaping straight 90-degree edges on granite, engineered quartz, concrete, and porcelain. Also known as zero-tolerance or drum grinding wheels, the series is available in 1-1/4" (3cm), 1-1/2" (4cm), and 2" (5cm) sizes.
Vacuum-brazed diamonds provide aggressive grinding action, long service life, and lasting profile shape. Unlike grinding wheels that gradually distort as their bond wears, the Z-Series is designed to retain its straight profile and support consistent vertical edge grinding throughout its service life.
A nylon guide helps prevent the Profiler from dipping, while the rotary toucher controls grinding depth to maintain a straight finished edge. Each diamond grinder wheel has a 5/8"-11 female thread and internal water passage holes for compatible center water-feed polishers. The PFZ301 and PFZ401 are rated for 3,500 RPM, while the PFZ501 is rated for 6,000 RPM.
The Profiler Z-Series can refine the curved surface left after cutting a sink opening with an Alpha Contour Blade and compatible stone cutter, creating a straight 90-degree edge for the finished opening. Alpha also recommends pairing the Vertical Grinding Wheel with a Corner Ruler when producing uniform straight or rounded exterior corners.

Common Questions
The Z-Series performs vertical or zero-tolerance grinding to create and refine straight 90-degree edges during stone, quartz, concrete, and porcelain fabrication.
The wheels are recommended for granite, quartz and engineered stone, concrete, and porcelain. Concrete can be ground, but its abrasive nature may substantially shorten wheel life.
The PFZ301 measures 1-1/4" and is recommended for 2cm and 3cm materials. The PFZ401 measures 1-1/2" for 4cm material, while the PFZ501 measures 2" for 5cm material.
The 1-1/4" PFZ301 and 1-1/2" PFZ401 have a maximum speed of 3,500 RPM. The 2" PFZ501 has a maximum speed of 6,000 RPM.
Alpha Profilers are for wet use only. The Z-Series has internal water passage holes and must be used with a compatible center water-feed polisher.
The vacuum-brazed wheel retains its straight profile, while the rotary toucher controls grinding depth and the nylon guide helps prevent dipping.
Yes. The Z-Series can remove the curved material left after a sink opening is cut and refine the opening into a straight 90-degree vertical surface.
No. Alpha Profilers require compatible low-RPM center water-feed polishers and should not be used on high-speed grinders or with an external water-feed system.
