Product Information
GoBoard® Banding is a waterproof seam tape designed to seal joints, seams, and transitions in GoBoard waterproofing assemblies. The 4.9-inch-wide band creates a continuous waterproof connection behind ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tile in showers, tub surrounds, steam rooms, and other wet areas.
A 100-micron polyethylene waterproofing layer laminated to polypropylene nonwoven fabric provides a stable bonding surface on both sides. The flexible banding can be cut with scissors or a utility knife and fitted around joints, changes of plane, and other waterproofing transitions.
GoBoard Waterproof Seam Tape installs with modified or unmodified thin-set mortar. Embed the banding with complete mortar coverage and no voids, maintaining at least a 2-inch overlap where it meets GoBoard accessories, waterproofing membrane, or another section of banding. Tile can be installed the same day after proper application.
GoBoard Banding meets ANSI A118.10 waterproofing requirements, is rated for residential and commercial steam rooms in accordance with ASTM E96 Method E, and achieves an ASTM C627 Extra Heavy system performance rating. These tested properties make it suitable for demanding residential and commercial wet-area tile installations.
Common Questions
It is used to waterproof seams, joints, changes of plane, and transitions in GoBoard tile assemblies, creating a continuous waterproof layer behind the finished tile.
Yes. GoBoard Banding is the product name, while waterproof seam tape and waterproofing band describe how the product functions within the GoBoard system.
Each roll measures approximately 4.9 inches wide by 33.8 feet long.
No. This is not a peel-and-stick tape. It is normally embedded in modified or unmodified thin-set mortar. GoBoard Pro Sealant may be used for manufacturer-specified methods, including the dedicated same-day flood-test procedure.
Maintain at least a 2-inch overlap where the banding meets another banding section, GoBoard Membrane, or a compatible GoBoard waterproofing accessory.
Yes. Tile can be installed the same day after the banding has been properly embedded with complete mortar coverage and no remaining voids.
Same-day flood testing requires GoBoard Banding to be installed with GoBoard Pro Sealant according to the dedicated manufacturer procedure. A standard thin-set installation must follow the applicable curing and flood-testing requirements.
Yes. It is rated for residential and commercial steam room applications in accordance with ASTM E96 Method E.
The polypropylene fabric surface provides a bonding layer for ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tile installed with a compatible thin-set mortar.
No. GoBoard Banding is not intended for continuously submerged applications or for bridging expansion joints and cracks with vertical movement.
