Product Information
The GoBoard® Point Drain Shower Pan Kit creates a custom, tile-ready shower base without requiring a fixed-size tray. Four pre-sloped GoBoard Wedges can be cut on-site to accommodate center or offset drain locations, making the system suitable for new residential showers and tub-to-shower conversions.
Lightweight, waterproof GoBoard components form a sloped substrate that directs water toward the point drain and supports direct tile installation after the assembly is properly sealed. The system accommodates curbed or curbless layouts over properly prepared wood subfloors and concrete slabs.
The kit includes one GoBoard Point Drain Kit, four 48" × 48" pre-sloped Wedges, and two 48" GoBoard Curbs. The Wedges and Curbs cut cleanly with a standard utility knife, giving professional installers and DIYers flexibility to build the shower base around the available space. Required GoBoard Pro Sealant is sold separately.
Common Questions
The package includes one GoBoard Point Drain Kit, four 48" × 48" pre-sloped Wedges, and two Curbs measuring 3-1/2" high × 2-1/2" wide × 48" long. The Point Drain Kit contains the drain assembly, waterproofing seals, mounting hardware, and a 2" plastic putty knife.
No. GoBoard Pro Sealant is required for waterproofing the shower pan assembly but is sold separately. It was removed from the kit because the sealant expires, allowing it to be purchased closer to installation. Confirm the quantity needed for the selected shower layout before beginning the project.
In addition to GoBoard Pro Sealant, the kit does not include GoBoard wall panels, fasteners or washers, thin-set mortar, tile, grout, PVC primer, or solvent cement. Depending on the shower design, additional curb material or optional GoBoard Seam Fabric may also be needed.
GoBoard’s published layouts show a maximum 48" × 48" square pan or 102" × 48" rectangular pan with four Wedges. The system also accommodates documented center and offset drain layouts. Verify the pan dimensions and drain coordinates against GoBoard’s current layout diagrams before cutting the components.
Yes. The system supports curbed or curbless residential shower layouts. Two 48" Curbs are included for a curbed entry but may not be needed in a curbless design. Curbless feasibility depends on the subfloor, framing, drain elevation, and applicable building requirements.
The shower pan can be installed over a level wood subfloor or properly prepared concrete slab. The included PVC drain body connects to a 2" waste pipe, but opening depth and pipe preparation differ by substrate. Confirm drain access and waste-pipe height before installation, especially during remodeling projects.
GoBoard recommends tile measuring at least 2" for installation over the pre-sloped Wedges. Smaller mosaic tile falls outside that recommendation and may not distribute loads as intended. Confirm the tile dimensions, setting mortar, and grout are compatible with the complete shower assembly before purchasing the finish material.
Tile may be installed the same day when the shower pan is assembled and waterproofed according to GoBoard instructions. Wait until the separately purchased GoBoard Pro Sealant has skinned over before setting tile. Actual timing may vary with the product, application thickness, and jobsite conditions.
GoBoard currently documents the Shower Pan Kit for residential tile applications. For a commercial, institutional, or other nonresidential project, confirm suitability with Johns Manville and the project’s design professional before specifying the system. Residential documentation should not be treated as approval for different occupancy or performance requirements.
