The Rust-Oleum® HOME® Countertop Coating Kit is a two-step refinishing system for updating laminate, tile, melamine, wood, and other countertop surfaces. The Base Coat and satin Topcoat provide strong adhesion, wear and stain resistance, and full use after 24 hours without routine stripping, sanding, or priming.

Description

The Rust-Oleum® HOME® Countertop Coating Kit is a two-step coating system for transforming outdated interior countertops without routine stripping, sanding, or priming. The system uses a Countertop Base Coat followed by a satin Topcoat to provide adhesion to difficult surfaces while creating a finish resistant to wear and staining.

The coating can be used on bare, stained, sealed, or previously coated surfaces including laminate, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, melamine, and wood. Each kit includes one quart of Base Coat, one quart of satin Topcoat, and 4 oz. of Heavy-Duty Cleaner, with Gray Marble Veining Paint included with the Ultra White Marble kit. An adhesion test is required before coating the entire surface, and the system is not intended for exterior use, surfaces treated with superhydrophobic sealers, or use as a food preparation surface.

What countertops can Rust-Oleum HOME Countertop Coating be used on?

It can be applied to many bare, stained, sealed, or previously coated countertop surfaces, including laminate, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, melamine, and wood.

Do I need to sand or prime the countertop before application?

Routine stripping, sanding, and priming are not required, but an adhesion test must be completed before coating the entire countertop. If more than 10% of the test coating comes off during the specified tape test, the countertop must be sanded with #60–#80 grit sandpaper before application.

What is included in the Countertop Coating Kit?

Each kit includes one quart of Countertop Base Coat, one quart of Countertop Satin Topcoat, and 4 oz. of Heavy-Duty Cleaner. The Ultra White Marble Kit also includes 4 oz. of Gray Marble Veining Paint.

How much area does one kit cover?

The coating provides approximately 75–100 square feet of coverage per quart.

How soon can the countertop be used?

The countertop can return to full use after 24 hours.
