Product Information
HMK S232 Stain Protection is a solvent-free, water-based impregnating sealer that reduces the penetration of oil, water, grease and dirt into porous materials. By working within the absorbent surface instead of forming a visible film, it provides practical stain protection while helping stone, masonry and unglazed tile retain their original character.
HMK S232 remains vapor permeable after treatment and does not cause an aesthetic change to the surface. This makes it particularly well suited to highly absorbent honed and textured materials where dependable protection is needed without changing the material’s natural color or finish.
Designed for soft and hard natural stone, artificial stone, agglomerates, concrete, terracotta, brick pavers, clay surfaces and unglazed tile, this stone sealer supports a wide range of interior and exterior projects. Its odorless, environmentally friendly formula allows buildings to remain occupied during treatment, providing a practical option when closing the space is inconvenient.
Common Questions
HMK S232 reduces the penetration of oil, water, grease and dirt into absorbent materials. Instead of forming an impermeable surface barrier, the water-based impregnator penetrates the substrate, helping limit absorption while allowing moisture vapor to continue moving through the treated material.
It is intended for soft and hard natural stone, artificial stone, agglomerates, concrete, terracotta, brick pavers, clay surfaces and unglazed tile. The formula is especially useful on highly absorbent honed or textured materials and may be used on compatible interior and exterior surfaces.
HMK S232 is a penetrating impregnator rather than a film-forming topical coating. The manufacturer states that treated surfaces remain vapor permeable and experience no aesthetic change, allowing porous stone and tile to retain their natural color and finish while receiving protection below the surface.
The surface must be chemically clean and completely dry. HMK recommends cleaning with diluted R155, flood rinsing away remaining cleaner and waiting at least 24 hours, with residual moisture no higher than 4 to 6 percent. Switch off underfloor heating and allow new installations additional drying time as needed.
Shake the container thoroughly because the active material can settle during storage. Apply the product evenly with a soft-bristle brush or lint-free cloth at temperatures from 50°F to 80°F. Highly absorbent surfaces may need another application after one to two hours; follow the label for wet-on-wet application.
Keep foot traffic off the treated surface for 8 to 12 hours and protect it from rain and humidity for 12 hours. Resistance to oil and water develops over approximately 48 hours, so the surface should remain protected during this period while the impregnator develops its intended performance.
Coverage depends on how readily the surface absorbs the sealer. One liter covers approximately 55 to 165 square feet, while five liters covers approximately 275 to 825 square feet. Test an inconspicuous area first to confirm suitability, coverage and performance for the specific material.
Yes. HMK describes the solvent-free, odorless formula as suitable while buildings remain occupied and states that once dry, the residual material is not harmful and complies with food hygiene standards. It remains a chemical product, so avoid ingestion and eye or skin contact, keep it away from children and follow label precautions.
