Diamond Flush Cutting Blade for Granite and Engineered Stone
The Alpha® Vortex is an aggressive diamond blade designed for flush cutting granite and engineered stone with compatible high-speed angle grinders. Dual side protection segments reinforce the blade while supporting straight, controlled, low-chip cuts in demanding stone fabrication applications.
Dual Side Protection for Strength and Straight Cutting
Diamond protection segments on both sides of the blade improve strength and durability while helping the blade track straight through the material. This reinforced construction provides the control needed for close surface cutting without sacrificing aggressive cutting performance.
Flush Cuts, Inside Corners and Sink Cutouts
In addition to general flush cutting, the Vortex can create 90-degree inside corners and complete intricate cuts for top-mount sink openings. It is particularly useful for cutting the material between drilled core holes where conventional blade mounting can limit access.
Wet or Dry Cutting with Quad Drive Mounting
The Vortex is available in 4" and 5" diameters for wet or dry cutting. Both sizes are 2.5mm thick, use a 20mm Quad Drive arbor, and must be mounted with the appropriate Alpha® Quad Drive Adapter rather than directly to the grinder flange. The 4" blade operates at up to 14,500 RPM, while the 5" blade operates at up to 12,200 RPM.

No. Alpha states that the Vortex must be used with the appropriate Quad Drive Adapter and should not be mounted directly to a grinder flange because of the countersunk holes in the blade core.

The 4" FCD40AH has a 7mm cutting rim and a maximum speed of 14,500 RPM. The 5" FCD50AH has a 6mm cutting rim and a maximum speed of 12,200 RPM. Both blades are 2.5mm thick.
Can the Alpha Vortex be used on a polishing tool?
No. Polishing tools operate too slowly for the Vortex. The blade must be used with a compatible high-speed angle grinder rated for the selected blade diameter and maximum RPM.
