Product Information
The Alpha® Spike Disc is a diamond-clustered grinding wheel engineered to remove thick epoxy, urethane, glue, and adhesive coatings. Multiple layers of high-quality diamond grit are vacuum-brazed into clustered beads, providing fast material removal and consistent cutting performance throughout the life of the disc.
Unlike an aggressive PCD cup wheel or conventional concrete grinding disc, the Spike Disc targets the coating without damaging the underlying concrete surface. Preserving the concrete helps reduce the need for a separate grinding step after the coating has been removed.
The open-mesh diamond layout allows removed coating material to clear the working surface, reducing clogging and heat buildup. This open construction also helps prevent excessive heat from burning metal surfaces. A lightweight sandwiched body with rubber cushioning reduces noise and vibration during operation.
The Spike Disc can remove coatings from concrete, steel, wood, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP), and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP). It is available in 4-1/2", 5", and 7" diameters with 35 or 50 grit. The 5/8"-11 threaded hub allows the grinder wheel to mount directly to compatible angle grinders. It can also be paired with the Alpha Ecoguard G and a compatible vacuum for a virtually dust-free coating removal setup.

Common Questions
The Spike Disc is designed to remove thick epoxy, urethane, glue, and adhesive coatings.
The Spike Disc is designed to remove coatings without damaging or aggressively grinding the underlying concrete surface. This helps reduce the need for a separate concrete grinding step after coating removal.
It can be used for coating removal on concrete, steel, wood, Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP), and Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer (CFRP).
Its open-mesh diamond layout allows removed coating material to clear the working surface. This reduces material buildup and limits the heat that can develop during operation.
The 35 grit uses a coarser diamond abrasive for more aggressive coating removal, while the 50 grit provides a finer cutting action. Select the grit based on the coating and surface preparation requirements.
The Spike Disc is available in 4-1/2", 5", and 7" diameters. The listed models have a 5/8"-11 threaded hub for compatible angle grinders.
Yes. Alpha recommends pairing the Spike Disc with the compatible Ecoguard G and a vacuum for a virtually dust-free coating removal setup.
