About This Product

Curve Cutting for Granite Sinkholes and Engineered Stone

The Alpha® Contour Diamond Blade is specifically developed for cutting granite sinkholes and other curved applications in granite and engineered stone. It also performs well on quartzite, harder natural stone, and harder types of marble where controlled curved cutting and maneuverability are required.

Direct Sintered Diamond Segments for Curved Cuts

Diamond segments are direct sintered to both sides of the steel core and along the peripheral cutting edge. This design produces a wider kerf that allows the blade to move through curved cuts more easily while supporting clean, accurate cutting. Diamond segments on the inside of the steel core help prevent undercutting, a common problem when making curved cuts with conventional blades.

Increased Maneuverability for Sinkhole Cutting

The wider kerf and cutting design provide greater maneuverability than a standard diamond blade, reducing the need for difficult and time-consuming plunge cuts when shaping sinkholes and other curved openings. Available blade sizes from 4" to 6" provide cutting depths up to 1-5/8" for different fabrication requirements.

Wet or Dry Cutting with Stone Fabrication Equipment

The Contour Diamond Blade can be used wet or dry and features a 7/8" arbor. It fits compatible wet/dry stone cutters and common angle grinders and can also be used with CNC routers equipped with a compatible cutting head.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can the Alpha Contour Diamond Blade cut?

The blade is developed for granite and engineered stone and also works on quartzite, harder natural stone, and harder types of marble.

Is this the Alpha Contour Blade for porcelain?

No. This version is specifically intended for granite, engineered stone, quartzite, and other supported natural stone applications. Alpha offers a separate Contour blade intended for porcelain applications.

What is the Contour Diamond Blade primarily used for?

It is specifically developed for cutting granite sinkholes and is also suited to other curved cutting applications where increased blade maneuverability is required.

How does the blade help prevent undercutting?

Diamond segments on the inside of the steel core help prevent undercutting during curved cutting applications.

Can the Alpha Contour Diamond Blade be used wet or dry?

Yes. The blade can be used for either wet or dry cutting with compatible equipment.

Why does the Contour Blade use a wider kerf?

The wider kerf improves maneuverability through curved areas, allowing the blade to make curved cuts more easily than a standard blade and reducing the need for difficult plunge cuts.

What equipment is compatible with the Contour Diamond Blade?

The blade can be used with compatible angle grinders and wet/dry stone cutters. It can also be used with CNC routers equipped with a compatible cutting head.

What sizes are available?

The Granite and Engineered Stone Contour Diamond Blade is available in 4", 4-1/2", 5", and 6" sizes with a 7/8" arbor.
