Product Information
GURU® W-S Waterproofing Band reinforces membrane seams, joints, and changes of plane to help maintain a continuous waterproof barrier beneath tile. This flexible waterproofing seam tape covers vulnerable connections where separate waterproofing surfaces meet, helping protect showers, wet rooms, and other moisture-exposed tile assemblies.
Made from the same 20 mil material as GURU W-S Membrane, the band conforms to floor-to-wall connections, wall-to-wall transitions, and other critical waterproofing details. Its low-perm construction supports consistent moisture protection in showers, steam showers, balconies, terraces, kitchens, and other residential or commercial tile applications.
W-S Band integrates with GURU WATER-STOP membrane assemblies and can also reinforce G-FLEX sheet joints when used with the approved bonding material. Suitable for interior and exterior applications, it meets ANSI A118.10 waterproofing and ANSI A118.12 crack isolation requirements for added confidence in the completed tile assembly.

Common Questions
GURU W-S Band is used to reinforce waterproofing membrane seams, joints, floor-to-wall connections, wall-to-wall transitions, and other changes of plane. It bridges adjoining waterproofing surfaces so the completed tile assembly can maintain continuous moisture protection across areas that are more vulnerable to water intrusion.
No. W-S Band is a bonded waterproofing seam tape rather than a peel-and-stick product. It must be embedded with the bonding material specified for the waterproofing system. Pressing the band into a complete, even bond helps remove trapped air and maintain waterproof protection across the joint.
Center the waterproofing band over membrane seams and joints so it covers both adjoining surfaces. It is commonly used at floor-to-wall and wall-to-wall transitions and other changes of plane. Placement, bonding material, coverage, and overlap requirements should follow the current GURU instructions for the specific waterproofing assembly.
Yes. W-S Band is designed for waterproofing details in showers, steam showers, wet rooms, and other moisture-exposed tile assemblies. Its flexible, low-perm WATER-STOP construction helps maintain system continuity at seams and transitions when the band is properly bonded and incorporated into the complete waterproofing system.
W-S Band is designed for WATER-STOP membrane assemblies and can also seal G-FLEX sheet joints when installed with the approved GURU bonding material. Follow the instructions for the specific membrane system to ensure the band is fully bonded and the adjoining waterproofing surfaces are properly prepared.
Yes. W-S Band is suitable for approved interior and exterior waterproofing applications, including wet-area walls and floors, balconies, terraces, kitchens, and similar tiled spaces. The supporting assembly, bonding material, and exposed conditions must meet GURU requirements for the intended residential or commercial installation.
W-S Band is made from the same flexible, multilayer WATER-STOP membrane used in GURU bonded waterproofing systems. Its 20 mil construction provides waterproof coverage without excessive buildup at seams and transitions, while the membrane surface supports secure bonding within the completed tile assembly.
W-S Band uses WATER-STOP membrane material that meets ANSI A118.10 waterproofing and ANSI A118.12 crack isolation requirements. GURU also references the TCNA Handbook, Uniform Plumbing Code, and National Plumbing Code of Canada for applicable waterproofing assemblies. Always follow current local codes and manufacturer instructions.
