About This Product

Electric Floor Heating for Flexible Layouts

SunTouch® WarmWire Cable is a resistance heating cable system for electric floor heating installations. The loose cable design allows spacing to be adjusted around room layouts and is installed over plywood, backerboard, or concrete slab according to applicable ANSI or TCNA guidelines.

Installation in Thinset or Self-Leveling Mortar

WarmWire is embedded in a minimum 3/8" layer of self-leveling or polymer-modified thinset mortar. It can be installed over backerboard or suitable setting beds on wood subfloors and concrete slabs, including thin slab and self-leveling concrete installations.

Adjustable Cable Spacing and Heat Output

The heating cable can be spaced at 2.5", 3", or 3.5" on center to provide different heat outputs. At 3" spacing, WarmWire produces 12 W/sq. ft.; 2.5" spacing provides 14.4 W/sq. ft.; and 3.5" spacing provides 10.3 W/sq. ft.

Tile, Stone, Carpet and Hardwood Floors

WarmWire can be used beneath tile, stone, carpet, and hardwood flooring when installed according to system requirements. The cable is also approved for installation in shower applications, extending electric floor heating into properly constructed shower areas.

120V and 240V Heating Cable Options

WarmWire is available in 120V and 240V configurations with multiple cable lengths and coverage areas. The system supports circuits up to 20 amps, or up to 15 amps when used with a SunStat control, allowing the appropriate cable to be selected for the heated floor area and electrical system.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

How deep does WarmWire need to be embedded?

The heating cable is embedded in a minimum 3/8" layer of self-leveling or polymer-modified thinset mortar.

What spacing should be used between WarmWire heating cables?

WarmWire supports 2.5", 3", and 3.5" on-center spacing. These configurations provide approximately 14.4, 12.0, and 10.3 watts per square foot respectively.

Can SunTouch WarmWire be installed in a shower?

Yes. WarmWire is approved for installation in shower applications when installed according to system requirements.

What flooring can be installed over WarmWire?

Allowable floor coverings include tile, stone, carpet, and hardwood when installed according to the applicable system requirements.

What is the difference between 120V and 240V WarmWire?

Both voltage options provide the same 12 W/Sq. Ft. output at 3" spacing. The appropriate voltage and cable size are selected based on the electrical system and required heated floor area.

Can WarmWire be cut to make the cable shorter?

Select the WarmWire model with the cable length and coverage appropriate for the installation. The supplied product information specifies fixed cable lengths for each model.
