About This Product

Temporary Grout Release for Tile and Stone

Aqua Mix® Grout Release is a temporary, water-soluble pre-grout coating that protects tile and stone surfaces against staining from grout and mortar. Applied before grouting, it creates a removable protective layer that reduces the amount of grout residue that bonds to the surface.

Easier Grout and Mortar Cleanup

Grout Release functions as an installation aid by making routine grout cleanup faster and more manageable. The temporary coating is removed during the normal grout-cleaning process and does not function as a permanent sealer or finish.

Apply 30 Minutes Before Grouting

Apply one coat with a foam applicator, dense-nap paint roller, or brush until the surface is completely covered, then allow it to dry for 30 minutes before grouting. Prevent the product from accumulating inside the grout joints. Product residue should be removed during normal grout cleanup, and application tools should be cleaned with water before the coating dries.

Surface Testing and Acid-Cleaner Limitations

Grout Release may discolor some light-colored tile and stone, so test the product in an inconspicuous area before treating the entire installation. Do not use acid solutions for cleanup because the acid may react with the coating and create a crystalline residue on the surface.
