Product Information
The GURU® W-S Heavy Duty Shower Tray creates a strong, pre-sloped foundation for custom tiled showers. Four factory-formed drainage planes guide water toward a compatible square drain, eliminating the need to hand-form a traditional sloped mortar bed and helping deliver consistent results in new construction and remodeling projects.
The reinforced tile-ready surface provides more than 190 psi of compressive strength and supports ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, mosaic, and penny tile. This tileable shower pan gives you the freedom to use tile of any size while its lightweight construction makes the tray easier to carry, position, and trim for custom shower layouts.
A load-bearing WATER-STOP membrane is factory bonded to the shower base and extends beyond the tray edges to connect with surrounding waterproofing components. The membrane passes ASTM D4068 waterproofness testing, has a 0.3 perm rating, and is IAPMO listed for dependable moisture protection beneath the finished shower floor.

Common Questions
The GURU W-S Heavy Duty Shower Tray is a pre-sloped, tile-ready shower base for tiled showers using a compatible square drain. Its reinforced surface and factory-bonded waterproof membrane replace the time-consuming process of forming and waterproofing a traditional sloped mortar shower floor.
The shower tray uses four factory-formed drainage planes that direct water toward the square drain opening. Because the required pitch is built into the tray, installers do not need to create the shower floor slope by hand using a traditional mortar bed.
No traditional sloped mortar bed must be formed because the drainage planes are already built into the shower base. The tray must still be fully supported and bonded to a clean, level, load-bearing substrate with compatible thin-set mortar according to the GURU installation instructions.
The heavy-duty tile-ready surface supports ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, mosaic, and penny tile. GURU states that the tray accommodates tile of any size, allowing customers to select their preferred shower floor design without being restricted to larger tile formats.
Yes. A load-bearing WATER-STOP waterproofing membrane is factory bonded to the shower tray. The membrane extends beyond the tray edges so it can connect with the adjoining wall, curb, and drain waterproofing, helping create continuous protection throughout the completed shower assembly.
Yes. The shower pan can be trimmed on-site to accommodate a custom layout. Plan all cuts carefully so the selected drain position, factory-formed slopes, edge support, and extended waterproofing membrane remain suitable for the finished shower. Always follow the manufacturer’s cutting and installation requirements.
No. The tray is designed for compatible square drain systems. Choose the tray configuration that matches the planned center or off-center drain location, then confirm that the selected drain and connector work with the GURU waterproofing assembly before beginning installation.
The tray’s WATER-STOP membrane is IAPMO listed under product file numbers 9205 and 9990, with ANSI A118.10 and IAPMO PS 106 listed as normative references. Product testing also reports passing results for waterproofness and resistance to fungus and mold growth.
