Product Information
GoBoard® Pro Sealant is a one-component, moisture-curing hybrid sealant and adhesive designed to waterproof GoBoard joints and fastener penetrations. Its permanently elastic, 100% solids formula also bonds GoBoard to itself and other compatible building materials without solvents or isocyanates.
The sealant bonds to metal, compatible plastics, concrete, wood, foam, and ceramic in addition to GoBoard components. Its no-sag consistency works on vertical and horizontal surfaces, while the cured sealant accommodates up to 25% joint movement.
GoBoard Pro Sealant is paintable, non-yellowing, non-corrosive, and VOC compliant for interior and exterior applications. It provides long-term weather resistance, meets ASTM C920 Type S, Grade NS, Class 25 or better, and skins quickly to support same-day tile installation.
Common Questions
GoBoard Pro Sealant waterproofs GoBoard panel joints and fastener penetrations while also bonding GoBoard to itself and other compatible building materials. It functions as both a waterproof joint sealant and a construction adhesive within GoBoard Tile Backer and GoBoard Shower System installations.
Yes. “GoBoard Sealant” is commonly used as a shortened reference to the same product, but its current technical product name is GoBoard Pro Sealant. It should not be treated as a separate sealant when selecting materials for a GoBoard installation.
The sealant bonds to GoBoard, metal, compatible plastics, concrete, wood, foam, and ceramic. Do not use it on olefin plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, or TPO. Surfaces must be clean, dry, free of contaminants, and stripped of existing coatings or sealers before application.
Leave the required 1/8" gap between GoBoard panels, completely fill the joint with GoBoard Pro Sealant, and eliminate gaps or pinholes. Spread the excess approximately 1" onto each side of the joint and around fastener penetrations, following the current GoBoard installation instructions.
At 77°F and 50% relative humidity, GoBoard Pro Sealant becomes tack-free in approximately 15 minutes and cures about 3 mm deep within 24 hours. Tile may be installed after the sealant skins over. Higher heat and humidity accelerate skinning, while colder or drier conditions slow curing.
Yes. GoBoard Pro Sealant is approved as a waterproof sealant and adhesive for interior and exterior GoBoard applications. Its no-sag formula works on vertical and horizontal surfaces, while its non-yellowing, non-corrosive, paintable construction provides long-term weather resistance when used according to GoBoard instructions.
The 10.3 oz cartridge is dispensed with a standard caulk gun. The 20 oz sausage requires a compatible sausage gun. Both contain the same GoBoard Pro Sealant, so select the package based on the application equipment available and the amount required for the project.
Unopened cartridges and sausages have an 18-month shelf life when stored at 70°F and 50% relative humidity. Check the expiration date printed on the package and avoid storage at elevated temperatures. The published 18-month shelf life applies only to unopened packaging.
When installed according to GoBoard instructions, the cured sealant accommodates 25% joint movement. It is classified as ASTM C920 Type S, Grade NS, Class 25 or better. Properly sealed GoBoard joints and fastener penetrations help create a waterproof tile substrate compliant with ANSI A118.10.
