About This Product

Dry Marble Polishing Discs for Edges and Profiles

Alpha® PVA MS 4" Dry Polishing Discs polish marble without the water, slurry, and cleanup associated with wet polishing. The flexible discs work on baseboards, corners, countertop edges, contours, chamfers, bead molding, curved profiles, and other irregular surfaces in the shop or during jobsite touch-ups.

Silicon Carbide Abrasive with a Flexible PVA Bond

Each polishing disc combines fast-cutting silicon carbide abrasive with a polyvinyl alcohol bond for efficient material removal, consistent performance, and long service life. The color-coded sequence includes 40 Extra Coarse, 80 Coarse, 220 Medium, 400 Fine, and 600 Extra Fine grits, along with an assorted 10-disc pack.

4" Polishing Discs for High-Speed Grinders

The discs have a 5/8" arbor and operate at speeds up to 12,000 RPM on compatible high-speed grinders. Unlike hook-and-loop polishing pads, PVA MS discs use an arbor-mounted configuration designed for high-speed dry polishing and finishing.

Contour Polishing and Multi-Material Finishing

The flexible PVA construction follows profiled, curved, rounded, and irregular surfaces where rigid abrasives can be difficult to control. In addition to marble, the discs can finish ceramic, wood, and metal edges, polish stainless steel to a mirror-like finish, and remove paint without easily clogging.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can Alpha PVA MS Polishing Discs be used on?

PVA MS discs are primarily designed for polishing marble. They can also finish ceramic, wood, and metal edges and polish stainless steel to a mirror-like finish.

Are Alpha PVA MS discs used wet or dry?

They are dry polishing discs that allow marble edges and profiles to be polished without the water and cleanup associated with wet polishing.

What grit sizes are available?

PVA MS discs are available in 40 Extra Coarse, 80 Coarse, 220 Medium, 400 Fine, and 600 Extra Fine grits. An assorted 10-disc pack is also available.

What grinders are compatible with PVA MS Polishing Discs?

The 4" discs have a 5/8" arbor and are designed for compatible high-speed grinders. Their maximum operating speed is 12,000 RPM.

Can PVA MS discs be used as angle grinder polishing pads?

They perform similar polishing and finishing work but use a 5/8" arbor instead of the hook-and-loop backing commonly found on polishing pads. Grinder compatibility and maximum operating speed must be confirmed before use.

Can PVA MS discs polish curved and profiled edges?

Yes. Their flexible construction works across contours, chamfers, bead molding, curved edges, rounded edges, and other irregular surfaces.

Can the polishing discs be used for paint removal?

Yes. Alpha identifies the 4" PVA MS discs as suitable for paint removal because the PVA material resists clogging.

Are PVA MS discs suitable for jobsite touch-ups?

Yes. The dry polishing system is suitable for jobsite touch-ups and shop fabrication involving marble edges, profiles, and detailed surfaces.
