About This Product
Two-Step Countertop Refinishing System
Rust-Oleum® HOME® Countertop Coating is a two-step Base Coat and Satin Topcoat system for updating existing countertops without stripping, sanding, or priming. The coating provides strong adhesion along with wear and stain resistance and allows full use of the finished countertop after 24 hours.
Compatible Countertop Surfaces
The system can be applied over bare, stained, sealed, or previously coated countertops including laminate, ceramic tile, porcelain tile, melamine, and wood. It is intended for interior countertops and should not be applied over surfaces treated with a superhydrophobic sealer.
Base Coat, Topcoat and Cleaner Included
Each kit includes 1 quart of Countertop Base Coat, 1 quart of Satin Topcoat, and 4 oz. of Heavy-Duty Cleaner. The Ultra White Marble Kit also includes 4 oz. of Gray Marble Veining Paint. White Tint Base can be used as Ultra White or tinted before application, while Deep Tint Base must be tinted before application.
Application and Coverage
The Base Coat is ready to use and should not be thinned. Apply between 50°F and 90°F with relative humidity below 85%, using a bristle brush for edges and a 3/8" nap roller for the main surface. Coverage is approximately 75–100 sq. ft. per quart depending on surface texture and porosity.
Finished Countertop Use and Care
The coating is not intended to serve as a direct food preparation surface. Use cutting boards when preparing food and trivets or other protection beneath hot cookware. Avoid prolonged standing water, heavy pounding, and direct contact with knives or other sharp utensils that could damage the finished surface.
