Product Information
GoBoard Waterproofing Membrane is a flexible, lightweight sheet that provides waterproofing and crack isolation beneath ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tile. It is designed for approved interior and exterior applications, including showers, bathrooms, kitchens, laundry rooms, balconies, patios, and steam rooms.
A 100-micron polyethylene core creates the waterproof layer, while polypropylene nonwoven fabric on both sides bonds with modified or unmodified thin-set mortar. The membrane integrates with GoBoard panels, banding, corners, curb covers, and other GoBoard components. Tile can be installed the same day after proper application.
The membrane exceeds ANSI A118.10 waterproofing requirements, is rated for residential and commercial steam rooms under ASTM E96 Method E, and achieves an ASTM C627 Extra Heavy system rating. Each 39.4" × 32.8' roll covers approximately 108 sq. ft.
Common Questions
GoBoard Membrane creates a waterproof and crack-isolation layer beneath ceramic, porcelain, and natural stone tile. It is suitable for approved residential and commercial applications and integrates with GoBoard panels, banding, corners, curb covers, and related components.
It can be used in approved interior and exterior areas, including bathrooms, tubs, showers, laundry rooms, kitchens, backsplashes, balconies, patios, and other wet areas. It is also rated for residential and commercial steam rooms under ASTM E96 Method E.
The membrane exceeds ANSI A118.10 waterproofing requirements and achieves an ASTM C627 Extra Heavy system performance rating. It has a 100-micron polyethylene waterproofing layer laminated to polypropylene nonwoven fabric on both sides.
Both modified and unmodified thin-set mortars are compatible with the polypropylene fabric facing. Embed the membrane into uniformly applied mortar with full coverage and no voids or air pockets, following the current manufacturer instructions.
Membrane sections must overlap adjoining membrane, GoBoard Banding, GoBoard panels, GoBoard Pro panels, corners, and curb covers by at least 2". Proper overlap and full mortar coverage are required to create waterproof joints.
Tile can be installed the same day after the membrane is properly embedded. Same-day flood testing requires GoBoard Sealant or GoBoard Pro Sealant applied according to the specified procedure. Otherwise, follow the thin-set manufacturer's curing requirements.
Each roll measures 39.4" wide by 32.8' long and covers approximately 108 sq. ft. Actual project coverage may be lower after accounting for required overlaps, cuts, corners, transitions, and material waste.
GoBoard Membrane is not intended for continuously submerged applications, expansion joints, or cracks with vertical movement. Use it only with approved substrates and compatible materials while following current manufacturer instructions for project-specific limitations.
