Product Information
Blanke® AQUA 90° Waterproofing Corners create continuous waterproof transitions at critical changes of plane in tiled wet areas. Their preformed construction eliminates the need to cut, fold, and shape flat membrane material around corners, helping installers achieve consistent coverage within Blanke AQUA-SHIELD waterproofing assemblies.
Choose part 541-900 for inward-facing corners such as wall-to-wall and wall-to-floor transitions or part 540-900 for outward-facing 90° corners. Both configurations have a nominal 4" width and are formed specifically for their respective corner orientation.
Each corner uses polyethylene film with fleece laminated to both sides. The fleece provides a bonding surface for thinset mortar, allowing the corner to integrate with AQUA-SHIELD membrane, seam tape, and adjoining waterproofing components beneath ceramic tile and stone.
Install the corner on a clean, flat, dry, and load-bearing substrate using thinset mortar applied with a 1/4" × 3/16" V-notched trowel. Press the corner into the mortar with the flat side of the trowel to establish complete contact and remove air pockets. Adjoining waterproofing components must overlap by at least 2". Blanke AQUA-SEAL should be used at overlapping seams in constantly or extremely moist applications as directed by Blanke.
Common Questions
They are preformed system accessories used to waterproof 90° changes of plane within Blanke AQUA-SHIELD tile and stone installations.
The inside corner is formed for inward-facing transitions such as wall-to-wall and wall-to-floor corners. The outside corner is formed for outward-facing 90° transitions.
Part 541-900 is the 4" inside corner, and part 540-900 is the 4" outside corner.
The corners use polyethylene film with fleece laminated to both sides. The fleece provides a bonding surface for thinset mortar.
No. These preformed corners are embedded in thinset mortar as part of the AQUA-SHIELD waterproofing assembly.
Apply thinset mortar to a clean, flat, dry, and load-bearing substrate with a 1/4" × 3/16" V-notched trowel. Press the corner into the mortar with the flat side of the trowel, establishing complete contact and removing air pockets.
Blanke requires adjoining AQUA-SHIELD components to overlap by at least 2" to create watertight connections.
Blanke directs installers to use AQUA-SEAL waterproofing adhesive at overlapping seams in applications exposed to constant or extremely moist conditions.
Yes. They can be incorporated into properly installed AQUA-SHIELD assemblies, which provide waterproofing and vapor protection for steam rooms and other continuous wet areas.
