Product Information
The AlbionĀ® Backer Rod Insertion Tool sets foam backer rod into caulk joints quickly and at a consistent depth without puncturing the material. The tool provides controlled placement before sealant application and is suited for joint preparation, including expansion joint applications.
The insertion depth is fully adjustable for positioning backer rod at any designed depth up to 1". This allows installers to maintain consistent backer rod placement throughout the joint while accommodating different joint and sealant requirements.
The standard tool includes four plastic insertion wheels in 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" widths plus a tamping blade. The plastic wheels can be used on sensitive substrates such as glass, aluminum, and EIFS, while the interchangeable sizes accommodate different joint widths.
The tool accepts a standard painter's extension pole or broom handle, including Albion 876-1 and 876-2 handles. This provides additional reach for setting backer rod while reducing the need to work directly over the joint.
