Product Information
OSI® SC175 Draft & Acoustical Sound Sealant is a non-flammable, latex-based sealant designed to reduce sound transmission and drafts in sound-rated wall systems. It helps achieve and maintain the specified STC (Sound Transmission Class) value of the assembly while remaining permanently flexible after application.
SC175 is designed primarily for commercial construction using lightweight cavity walls and floor systems. It can be applied at perimeter joints, floor and ceiling runners, gypsum board cutouts, veneer plaster systems, and other locations where an acoustical seal is required. It is suitable for exposed and concealed applications.
The sealant can be applied around electrical boxes and outlets, cold air returns, HVAC ducts, and other utilities that penetrate wall surfaces to improve acoustical performance. It can also be used to seal sill and base plates in residential construction and other non-fire-rated systems.
SC175 adheres to wood, metal studs, concrete, gypsum board, and most common building materials. The sealant remains flexible, can be painted after application, and cleans up with soap and water. It is VOC compliant and has been tested to UL 1479, UL 2079, and ASTM E84.
