Nuheat® Membrane is a tile underlayment designed to provide uncoupling, crack isolation, and vapor management while simplifying the installation of Nuheat heating cable. It can be installed across the entire subfloor prior to tile installation.
The membrane is constructed from a polypropylene sheet with square-shaped pillars that is heat-welded to a non-woven polypropylene fabric. The fabric layer absorbs thinset to bond the membrane to the substrate, while the pillar structure supports moisture vapor management during curing.
Key Features
- Uncoupling and Crack Isolation: Helps reduce the risk of tile cracks and meets ANSI A118.12 system crack resistance requirements.
- Integrated Vapor Management: Square pillar design allows moisture to escape from the substrate during thinset curing.
- Heating Cable Integration: Accommodates Nuheat Cable, cold lead joint, end seal, and floor sensor without cutting or modification.
- Variable Cable Spacing Support: Allows Nuheat Cable installation at 10, 12, or 15 W/ft² heat output.
- Waterproofing Capability: Provides waterproofing when seams are sealed with approved waterproofing seam tape.
- Subfloor Assembly Reduction: Replaces one layer of plywood or cement board in the subfloor assembly.
- Thinset Compatibility: Compatible with both modified and unmodified thinset mortars.
- Heavy-Duty Load Rating: Rated “Extra Heavy” under the Robinson Floor Test (ASTM C627).
