Bonding Flange Drain for Mortar Bed Showers
The wedi® S-DRY™ Bonding Flange Drain (BFD) is designed for mortar bed shower bases topically waterproofed with the wedi S-DRY Shower System. The drain integrates the waterproofing membrane directly with the drain assembly for a continuous waterproof connection at the shower floor.
Thermally Fused Waterproofing Connection
The membrane is thermally fused to the bonded flange to prevent delamination at the drain connection. A two-part cementitious waterproofing compound bonds the S-DRY membrane to the drain flange, helping prevent moisture from wicking beneath the membrane.
Adjustable Installation for Mortar Bed Thickness
The low-profile drain includes spacers for use with 1/2" to 1-1/2" dry-pack mortar thicknesses, while an integrated support system stabilizes the drain and flange at varying installation heights. The drain body extends only 3/4" into the subfloor, allowing connection to waste piping positioned close to a floor joist.
Adjustable Drain Cover for Tile Installation
The drain cover assembly accommodates tile from 3/16" to 5/8" thick and provides 1/4" of lateral adjustment in all directions for alignment with the tile layout. A minimal thinset mortar bed is required around the drain cover, reducing moisture buildup and shortening drying time. The drain cover support piece is included; the wedi S-DRY Drain Cover is selected separately.
