Nuheat® Membrane Sheet is a tile underlayment membrane designed for uncoupling, decoupling, and crack isolation while supporting streamlined installation of Nuheat Cable. It installs over the subfloor to manage movement, support vapor release during curing, and provide a stable underlayment surface for tile installation.
Nuheat Membrane Sheet is constructed from a polypropylene layer with square-shaped pillars that support vapor management and movement accommodation. It is compatible with Nuheat Cable, including cold lead joints, end seals, and sensor probes, without cutting or modification.
Key Functions
- Uncoupling & Decoupling Performance: Reduces stress transfer from the substrate to the tile underlayment and finished tile surface.
- Vapor Management: Pillar structure allows moisture to escape during thinset curing.
- Cable Integration: Accommodates Nuheat Cable and system components without modification.
- Flexible Heat Output: Supports cable spacing for 10, 12, or 15 W/ft² heat output.
- Thinset Compatibility: Compatible with modified and unmodified thinsets.
- Waterproofing Capability: Provides waterproofing when installed with waterproofing seam tape.
Installation Options
Nuheat Membrane Sheet is available in two installation formats that share the same functional membrane design but differ in backing and installation method.
- Standard: Installed using modified or unmodified thinset beneath the membrane. The non-woven polypropylene fabric backing absorbs thinset to bond the membrane to the substrate.
- Peel & Stick: Installed using a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing applied directly to a primed subfloor. Mechanical anchoring is created when thinset passes through vented pillars during tile installation.
