Description

The Alpha® Spike Disc is a diamond-coated removal disc designed for stripping thick coatings such as epoxy, urethane, glue, and adhesives from concrete and other surfaces. It uses clustered, vacuum-brazed diamond grits arranged in an open-mesh pattern to remove coatings efficiently while minimizing damage to the underlying substrate.

Unlike traditional PCD cup wheels, the Spike Disc removes material without aggressive grinding, helping reduce surface damage and eliminating the need for secondary grinding steps in many applications.

Key Features

  • Diamond-Clustered Cutting Surface: Multi-layer diamond grits are vacuum-brazed into clustered beads for consistent removal performance.
  • Thick Coating Removal: Designed for epoxy, urethane, glue, and adhesive removal on concrete surfaces.
  • Open-Mesh Diamond Layout: Reduces clogging and heat buildup during operation.
  • Reduced Surface Damage: Removes coatings without gouging or aggressively grinding the concrete substrate.
  • Rubber-Cushioned Lightweight Body: Helps reduce vibration and operating noise.
  • Multi-Surface Capability: Can be used on concrete, steel, wood, glass fiber reinforced polymer, and carbon fiber reinforced polymer.
  • Multiple Size and Arbor Options: Available in 4-1/2", 5", and 7" diameters with 5/8"-11 hub options.
  • Dust Control Compatibility: Can be used with Alpha® Ecoguard G for reduced dust during operation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can the Spike Disc be used on?
The Alpha Spike Disc can be used on concrete, steel, wood, glass fiber reinforced polymer, and carbon fiber reinforced polymer. It is designed to remove thick coatings without aggressive grinding on the underlying surface.
How does this differ from a PCD cup wheel?
The Alpha Spike Disc removes coatings using clustered diamond grits instead of aggressive PCD scraping. This helps reduce gouging and often eliminates the need for secondary grinding after coating removal.
Does the Spike Disc help reduce heat and clogging?
Yes. The Alpha Spike Disc features an open-mesh diamond layout that helps minimize clogging and heat buildup during operation, supporting more controlled and consistent coating removal.
