Product Information
BLUE BEAR® Safenol™ Paint & Urethane Stripper is a gel coating remover designed to soften paint, varnish, enamel, urethane, and other compatible finishes. Its ability to tackle multiple coating layers helps simplify restoration, refinishing, and renovation projects.
Safenol works on wood, metal, and concrete, giving DIY users one stripper for several common project surfaces. Its broad coating compatibility makes it useful for removing old finishes before repairing, refinishing, or updating coated materials around the home, garage, or workshop.
The thick gel clings to horizontal and vertical surfaces, helping maintain contact while coatings soften. Its low-odor, methylene chloride-free formula is non-flammable and non-caustic, providing practical coating-removal performance for indoor and outdoor refinishing projects.

Common Questions
Safenol removes paint, varnish, enamel, urethane, and other compatible coatings. Its gel formula can soften multiple layers in one application, although coating chemistry, age, thickness, and layer count affect performance. Another application may be needed when heavy or resistant coatings do not soften completely.
Safenol is designed for wood, metal, and concrete. Test a small, inconspicuous area before starting, especially on visible surfaces, because concrete may darken during use. Compatibility with brick, natural stone, mortar, and other masonry materials is not established, so confirm suitability before treating them.
Safenol can begin softening compatible coatings in as little as 20 minutes, but that is not a guaranteed removal time. Leave the stripper in place until every coating layer has thoroughly softened. Older finishes, heavy buildup, cooler conditions, or multiple layers may require additional time or another application.
Protect surrounding areas and brush on a layer thicker than the coating being removed. Allow every layer to soften completely, then lift the material with a scraper or wet vacuum. Reapply where necessary. Follow the product label and current SDS for complete preparation, handling, and disposal instructions.
Yes. The gel consistency helps Safenol remain on vertical surfaces instead of running off quickly. One gallon covers approximately 75 square feet vertically or 125 square feet horizontally. Actual coverage varies with the surface, coating type, layer count, product thickness, and application method.
Remove all softened coating and collect the waste for disposal according to applicable regulations. Use BLUE BEAR Emerge Cleaner & Degreaser to remove remaining Safenol residue. Ensure the surface is fully cleaned and complete any preparation required by the new coating before painting or refinishing.
Safenol contains no methylene chloride and has a mild odor, but indoor use still requires good ventilation. The current SDS calls for eye protection, suitable gloves, and suitable clothing. Avoid skin and eye contact, inhalation, and swallowing, keep it away from children, and follow the label and SDS.
